We bought the farm in 1999 and there was no looking back! Our almost-40 acres of paradise was named and we began a new chapter of our life.
City slickers Karen & Glenn moved from Toronto to Lakehurst, with Karen working for Quaker Oats in the Marketing Department and Glenn taking on the renovations on the farm.
With a last name like Woolley, it was only a matter of time before animals were added and SHEEP were the first choice. Over the years we've had wee goats, ducks, banty hens and boarded horses and cattle.
Wishes granted and prayers were answered when Miss Fiona Marguerite arrived on a dry March 2002 day to complete the Woolley trio. She's known no better life than Woolley Wonderland Farm, pitching in with chores and joyful adventures since day one.
She's chased sheep out of the barn to "rescue" teenagers, found snakes, saved injured wildlife and been on hand for births in the barn.
Karen retired from the corporate world with Fiona's arrival, taking on the role of MUM with gusto.
She found her passion for music and children mix through Parent-Child Mother Goose programs and developed her own musical playgroup in 2003. Music For Moppets celebrates it's 11th anniversary this year as a business and brings together families from all over Peterborough County for a morning of mom time, social time, literacy and music in the fall, winter and spring.
Glenn keeps his farmer hat on but now also wears the badge of courage in working for a call centre for a German Airline in Peterborough.
Glenn, Karen and Fiona work together to purchase, breed and discover new Critters for their farm.
It's a place that is always changing with births and deaths, comings and goings, family and friends visiting and always something to do. Our Foster Children thrive.
Critter Visits was created from our annual sheep shearing day going wild with popularity. From over 300 students and teachers on our property to … Critter Visits has been developing it's business strategy and improving the offerings and services over the last 7 years.
We've added new breeds of Critters (promising at least 5 varieties at any visit) and been fortunate to have amazing vehicles, cages and enclosures to bring the Critters on the road.
We've logged miles and taken our collection from North Bay to Oakville, Brampton to Kingston and hover around Peterborough and the GTA most of the time.
Fiona's shown her sheep, goats, poultry, rabbits and ducks at summer and fall fairs - proudly collecting ribbons for her knowledge and her livestock.
We hope you will enjoy having our Critters visit you soon …. home, corporate, church or community events. We are happy to share the joy of Woolley Wonderland wherever we travel.
